After 5 years when I landed at Srinagar international airport in the afternoon, I was amused to see the Paradise on the earth with a pleasant environment. Good conditions of Roads, costly bungalows and relaxed army personals welcome us. The atmosphere was full of peace and festive mood.
First ray of Sun shine on the silent Jhelum River give me picture of a beautiful state with rich culture, innocent generation and intellectual mindset. Shikara’s on the silent water of the Dal lake and Lal chowk’s busy pavement shows a beautiful picture of the silent paradise. Much water have flown down the Jhelum but today’s still water in Jhelum give me a feeling of a peace and love in paradise. Late evening I saw a young man speaking with his girl friend on the bank of Jhelum give remembrance of old Hindi movie with melodious love songs. I was amazed to see the new Kashmir, where youth are busy to identify new opportunity and government with young leadership is busy to announce new development schemes. I find new Kashmir as the land of Love and promises with lot of soldiers. You tube and internet is common tool for new generation of the Kashmir.
In this Paradise silence is like a top creamy layer of the cake. Other layers of the cake are not so beautiful. A single incident of Encounter, human right violence, Custody in valley changes this picture entirely. Regular terrorist activities have been replaced with youth having sling shot in their hand and with pro-azadi slogan on the streets of the Srinagar. Sling shots in the schoolbag of students are common after Shopian murders. Lal Chowk book stores are full of pro- Azadi Literature and reports of Indian army’s human rights violation. “Azadi” is a buzz in the Srinagar and other remote area of the Kashmir, and they want to be independent of any control from India and Pakistan. Indian Govt and its representatives in state need to build more confidence within residents and work hard to develop more opportunities for the young and empty hands. After partition of India the people of unfortunate land continue to face insurgency and militancy. I feel utter bitterness against Indian Army within the locals. Modus of operand of Indian Army have not achieved much respect and confidence with in locals yet. I firmly believe that Government agencies need to create an environment of believes development and justice for people of Kashmir. Leadership should represent the Kashmir people, their needs and issues. People of Kashmir have understood that violence is not only the solution of their demands. People should not be denied the justice and justice should not be delayed.
